The matte finish is the reason most players choose this line. A textured back cuts down on the glare that gloss sleeves throw under bright lighting, gives a steadier grip when fanning a hand, and lets shuffling stay smooth rather than sticky. The opaque black backing hides any card wear behind it and keeps sleeved cards indistinguishable from one another in a deck.
The sleeves are made from polypropylene at 60 microns, are PVC-free and acid-free, so cards can sit in them long term without the plasticiser damage older sleeve materials caused. The rigid box they arrive in is handy for storing spares, and because black is a staple colour it is easy to top up a deck later with the same product number, AT-11002.
