The Hosts of Mordor is one of the four Commander decks released with The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth, and it arrives assembled and legal for play straight out of the box. The 100-card list runs blue-black-red, the Grixis colour combination, so the deck leans on removal, recursion and grinding value rather than a single fast combo. Everything needed for a first game at the table is in the box: 10 double-sided tokens, a foil-etched Display Commander on thick cardstock, a Life Wheel for tracking totals, a strategy insert explaining how the deck wants to play, a reference card and a deck box that holds 100 sleeved cards. A 2-card Collector Booster Sample Pack is also included, containing one traditional foil or nonfoil special-treatment card of rare or higher rarity and one traditional foil special-treatment common or uncommon.
Commander is a multiplayer format, so this deck suits a group of three or four rather than a single duel, and it gives a newer player a sensible starting point without deckbuilding. Collectors can keep it sealed as part of the Tales of Middle-earth run, while regular players tend to strip it for the Middle-earth legends and rebuild around Sauron over time.
